1st Day: Arrival Day 

Individual transfer by Flybus shuttle bus from Keflavik airport to your accommodation in Reykjavik. You may explore Iceland’s capital city on your own if time allows.
 

Overnight Location: Fosshotel Reykjavik or similar in Reykjavík.

 

2nd Day: Golden Circle

We see classic highlights today on the Golden Circle Route. Start with a visit to a geothermal greenhouse and see how Icelanders grow tomatoes. Next, take a selfie with an Icelandic horse and learn about its unique qualities and history. Explore Gullfoss, the beautiful double “Golden Falls”, and walk through the active geothermal area of Geysir, where Strokkur spouts up to 25 meters (70 feet) every five to seven minutes. The next stop is the ancient Viking Parliament area and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Þingvellir National Park. The Þingvellir plain is situated on a tectonic plate boundary where North America and Europe are slowly tearing away from each other.

3rd Day: Snæfellsnes Peninsula & Ferry Trip to West Fjords

Today, explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, which juts out from Iceland’s West Coast. Travel around the peninsula through lava fields and along the ocean with many excellent photo opportunities. Visit the popular sites at Snæfellsnes National Park, where volcanic craters, lava flows, an ice cap, glaciated peaks, fjords, sandy beaches, and high cliffs shape the landscape. Take a lava cave tour at Vatnshellir. In the afternoon, catch the car ferry Baldur from Stykkishólmur to Brjánslækur in the West Fjords, passing the island of Flatey.

4th Day: Iceland's Westernmost Point

Follow the coastline and stop at the folk and transport museum in Hnjótur. Continue through a remote region to the bird cliffs of Látrabjarg, the most abundant seabird cliff and the westernmost point of Iceland and Europe. Walk in the wilderness to the top of the highest bird cliff in Iceland. If weather and road conditions allow, travel to Rauðisandur beach with its endless red sand.

5th Day: Beautiful West Fjords

Travel over mountains and along scenic fjords to the majestic fjord Arnarfjörður. Visit Dynjandi waterfall, known as the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland. Continue over a mountain pass and along the southern shores of the West Fjords. Visit Erpsstaðir, a family-run dairy farm, to taste unique ice cream and dairy products.

6th Day: Heading North

Journey around the Vatnsnes peninsula. Pass the fishing village of Hvammstangi, known as the seal capital of Iceland. Visit Hvítserkur, a mass of igneous rock on the seashore. Continue to Kolugljúfur canyon to see waterfalls cascading into the deep, rugged gorge. Visit Víðimýri to see a preserved turf church built in 1834. Continue to Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland.

7th Day: Iceland's Northernmost Town, Whale Watching & Sea Angling

Enjoy breakfast at the botanical garden in Akureyri. Take a whale watching tour for 2-3 hours in Eyjafjörður, Iceland’s longest fjord. Travel to Siglufjörður, Iceland’s northernmost town, known as the herring capital of the North Atlantic. Visit the Herring Era Museum and taste herring along with Brennivín, Icelandic schnapps.

8th Day: Volcanic Lava Wonders and Geothermal Bathing

Explore Goðafoss, the waterfall of the Gods, and continue to Lake Mývatn, known for its bird life and volcanic lava landscapes. Visit Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall. End the day at Vök baths, a geothermal floating pool in Lake Urriðavatn.

9th Day: East Fjords

Admire the dramatic fjord landscape and tiny fishing villages in the East Fjords. Visit Petra’s rock collection, a unique treasure of rocks, crystals, and more. In the afternoon, see Vatnajökull, Europe’s biggest glacier.
 

Overnight Location: Fosshotel Vatnajökull, Höfn in Hornafjörður or similar.
 

Meals: Breakfast & dinner included.

 

10th Day: Vatnajökull National Park, Glaciers & Glacier Lagoon

Visit Vatnajökull National Park, covering 14% of Iceland. Take a boat ride amongst the icebergs on Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon. Walk along the black sands of Diamond beach. Explore Skaftafell and walk close to a glacial tongue. Cross a sandy desert to reach Vík, the southernmost village in Iceland.
 

Overnight Location: Hotel Vík, Vík in Mýrdalur or similar.
 

Meals: Breakfast & dinner included.

 

11th Day: The South Coast

Travel along the South Coast of Iceland, exploring Reynisfjara beach, Skógafoss waterfall, and Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Visit the Lava & Volcano Exhibition Centre. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant in Reykjavík.
 

Overnight Location: Fosshotel Reykjavik or similar in Reykjavík.

12th Day: Departure Day

Individual transfer by Flybus shuttle from your accommodation in Reykjavik to Keflavik airport.
